Nicholas Jacobs, PhD, CCC

My name is Nicholas Jacobs and I am a psychotherapist, researcher, and educator based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. My personal, professional, and educational journeys reflect an ever-deepening humility and curiosity towards the human condition that I am able to express through my work with clients, my research, and my way of moving in and through the world.

My journey through life reflects an exploration and acceptance of living within the fundamental paradoxes of life. My aim as a psychotherapist is to journey alongside those seeking to understand how to dwell aright within the tensions of existence, through a fuller and deeper understanding and acceptance of oneself.

  • Psychotherapist

I provide therapy for adult individuals with a broad range of presenting concerns, with a special interest in healthy masculinity, grief and loss, trauma, anxiety, depression, relationships, and life transitions.

  • Researcher

I hold the position of Research Director and Professor of Spiritually-Integrated Psychotherapy at St. Stephen's College. My research is informed by analytical psychology, existentialism, phenomenology, and curriculum studies, and investigates the phenomenon of mortality as it relates to creativity, learning, and becoming.

  • Educator

I am currently a sessional instructor at MacEwan University, teaching courses in abnormal psychology, human sexuality, psychological interviewing, and the psychology of mortality.
